Obituary for Jean W. Reber

Jean W. (Williamson) Reber, 89, of Temple passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 in the Reading Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa on December 16, 1927, Jean was the only daughter of Kenneth T. and Lucille (Bean) Williamson. Married on June 4, 1948, Jean was the loving wife of Evan E. Reber who passed March 11, 2012.

Jean raised a family of 7 children, a homemaker and mother was her priority role at that time. Together, Jean and her husband were an example of love and commitment which now transcends generations. After raising children, Jean sought a professional career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She completed nursing school at age 50, passing the board exams on her first try. Jean enjoyed working as an in-home care nurse the most where she could be a skilled professional and create long lasting relationships. She was a volunteer for the FISH (Friends In Service Helping) program where she gave her time to drive the elderly to appointments. Jean also served in her church, a member of the Christ UCC Church in Temple, she was a Deacon, a Sunday school teacher for 20-years, and a choir member.

Jean is survived by four sons, Barry E. Reber of Harrisburg, Ronald P. Reber of Temple, Randolph K Reber and his wife Linda of Fivepointville, Bradley W. Reber and his wife Irene of Muhlenberg Twp.; three daughters, Barbara L. (Reber) Schoonover and her husband Allan of Smithfield, VA, Carol A. Reber and her companion Mark Potteiger of Temple, and Jennifer R. (Reber) Maulick and her husband Jeffrey of Muhlenberg Twp. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and a brother, Alan Williamson of Hampton, VA.

Jean is predeceased by brother, Ted Williamson.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Christ UCC Church, 4870 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560. Reverend Dr. Harry L. Serio will officiate.
