Frank E. Pegg

February 17, 1926 ~ August 12, 2018 (age 92)
Frank E. Pegg, 92 of Spring Township died August 12, 2018 at 10:04 AM in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Gloria J. (O'Neill) Pegg. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Frank and Ruth M. (Reinert) Pegg.

He was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College where he was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society of Education and where he sang in the college chorus and played in the marching band. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 142nd Combat Engineering Battalion, Rainbow Division in France, Germany and Austria. In 1951 he began a 2 year tour of duty during the Korean War at the US Army Chemical Center, Aberdeen, MD where he designed and tested gas mask canasters. He was first employed as a sales coordinator for Atlas Mineral Products Co., Mertztown and was last employed for 27 years as product manager for the former Polymer Corporation, Muhlenberg Township, now DOW Chemical Company retiring in 1988. He was a charter member of the Powder Keggers Assn., Society of Manufacturing Engineers. In 1948 he founded and managed the Johnny Schmoker German Band where he sang and played the tuba. He was also a former member of the Reading Civic Opera Society, the Reading Music Club, the Reading Madrigal Choir and the Music Box Society International and frequently sang with the choirs of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Calvary United Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by 1 daughter. He was predeceased by a sister, Janet (Pegg) Herr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 4201 Stoudt's Ferry Bridge Rd. Reading, PA 19605 with the Rev. Denise E. Keltz and the Rev. Gerald C. Arndt officiating.

Burial in Swamp Church Cemetery, Reinholds will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 AM until service time in the church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Music Fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at the above address.
